Where to dump trash in New York City, NY

New York City has no public landfill and no public transfer station for household garbage, according to city records. Large items go out with curbside DSNY collection. For harmful household items (paint, batteries, electronics, tires), the city runs five Special Waste Drop-Off sites – one in each borough.

Bulky items such as furniture and mattresses are collected curbside by DSNY – check nyc.gov/dsny for rules.
